Training Development Workshop was organized by Bird Conservational Nepal in collaboration with Department of Forest and FECOFUN on 4th November in Kathmandu to develop training need assessment through addressing biodiversity and ecosystem services related components into training manual and curricula for the purpose of mainstreaming biodiversity and ecosystem services into community forestry in Nepal.
The Workshop was opened by a short welcome speech of Dr. Narendra Man Babu Pradhan, CEO,BCN and open remark by Dr. Anuja Raj Sharma, DDG, CFD. Both of them, basically stressed on the immediate necessity of the workshop and proper implementation of its findings throughout the country to address the biodiversity and ecosystem services related issues. findings throughout the country to address the biodiversity and ecosystem services related issues. Parbat Raj Thani, BCN presented the project progress in detail along with the work to be done in forthcoming days. Subsequently, Nabin Prakash Upadhyaya, Training Officer, CFT&EC explained about the forest training institutes including relevant courses. Similarly, Sudil Gopal Acharya, BCN provided information about prepared draft of biodiversity supplement stressing its importance and role of training centers to develop training outline linked to biodiversity supplement.
Afterwards, a plenary discussion was carried to identify possible ways of sustaining the training beyond the project followed by a group discussion on methods of training and the training period.
Total 18 participants on 4th November representing Department of Forest (DoF), Forest Training Centers, FECOFUN, BirdLife International and Bird Conservation Nepal were present on that workshop.
