Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN), the BirdLife International Partner in Nepal, is seeking applications from qualified Nepali candidates for the position of Field Assistant

 

Job Title: Field Assistant

Level: Assistant III

Reports to: Program Officer

Duty Station: Kanchanpur

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

1.     Assist the Program Officer in conducting bird surveys and research in Shuklaphanta National Park and the buffer zone.

2.     Coordinate with local communities and BCN’s Local Conservation Group over program implementation.

3.     Conduct awareness program in communities/schools and other relevant institutions to engage them in bird and biodiversity conservation.

4.     Assist to Identify and monitor threatened bird species nesting colonies and support community groups in monitoring and documenting.

5.     Support the youth groups and eco clubs in birdwatching activities.

6.     Maintain bird data at the local level and produce short communication materials.

7.     Assist on Telemetry tagged, vulture monitoring and ground truthing.

8.     Any other BCN related work as per instructions from relevant authorities at BCN

 

Required skills and experience

 

Education

·       High school degree or diploma level in Forestry, Agriculture, Environment, Natural Resource Management or other relevant subject or equivalent

 

Experience

 

·       Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience in project implementation in NGO

·       Experience of working in multicultural setting and with forest user groups

·       Experience networking and relationship building

·       Proven skill in community mobilisation and trainings

·       Experience in usage of computer software packages (word, excel, spss, etc)
