Workshop Conducted on Wild Bird Trade Control and Sensitization at Lumbini Province

On 10 January 2024, Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) carried “Wild Bird Trade Control and Sensitization Program” in Rapti Valley (Deukhuri) of Lumbini Province. This is third workshop of total seven workshops to be carried in all province of Nepal. The work was carried in coordination with Department of Forest and Soil Conservation (DOFSC) and facilitation by Lumbini Province with the support from LUSH-FRESH HANDMADE COSMETICS.

In the workshop, Sabanam Pathak-Forest Officer of DOFSC in opening remarks briefed about the workshop followed with glimpse on CITES implementation activities of DoFSC. In the workshop, Raju Chhetri-Division Forest Officer of Dang (Deukhuri) presented on wildlife trade incidence occurred in Dang. Likewise, Mohan Bikram Shrestha-Senior Research Officer of BCN provided detailed on CITES listed birds of Nepal. And, Santosh Bajagain- Research Officer of BCN provided the insight of wild bird trade records in Nepal. The workshop ended with the closing remarks and vote of thanks from Keshav Aryal-Under-secretary of Ministry of Forest, Environment, Tourism and Water (MOFETW). A total of 35 Participants from twelve districts of Lumbini Province and participants from MOFETW attended the workshop.
